OnePlus is widely inclined to launch this year an inexpensive variant of its forthcoming flagships, with the OnePlus 9 Lite rumored to be called the handset. Over the past few days, the phone has been spotted in a variety of leaks with leaks that also disclose the device’s main specifications.
- OnePlus is tipped to launch a new phone called OnePlus 9 Lite.
- It is possible to launch the OnePlus 9 Lite in March 2021.
- A Snapdragon 888 SoC could be featured in the OnePlus 9 Lite.
The Tipster asserts that two model numbers, namely LE2100 and LE2101, would make the OnePlus 9 Lite available. The study also adds that OnePlus also aims to push forward the launch of its new flagship by at least a month, just like Samsung. As such, the phone is scheduled to be launched sometime in March 2021 in India. The report also claims to disclose the price of the unit, with India’s OnePlus 9 Lite price tipped to be about Rs 43,800–slightly lower than the current price tag of Rs 45,999.
The knowledge about the smartphone had also been leaked earlier, with previous reports also reporting that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset phone was initially launched in India and China. Android Central shared the details, which also implies that the phone will have similar specifications to the OnePlus 8T. As such, there will be a Snapdragon 865 processor under the hood and a 90 or 120Hz AMOLED panel outside. It is also said that the OnePlus 9 Lite supports fast charging at 65W.
It would be fascinating to see if this chipset really ends up going with OnePlus, since it will be the first one on a new phone for OnePlus to use an old SoC. Although it is true that the Snapdragon 865 is not a strong processor, it will still mark a return of OnePlus to its “never settle” pledge. However, if OnePlus prices the device right to ensure that there is enough value for customers on the phone, all these issues may be alleviated. But this is again something we’d only get to know in the coming weeks and months as there is currently no details available from leaks on the device’s price or availability.
In addition, the smartphone is also expected to share the same camera optics used in the OnePlus 8T. The OnePlus 8T provides a flexible user interface for the uninitiated when taking images as it comes with four cameras of which a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor is the main. The lens has an F/1.7 aperture and supports both OIS and EIS, which functions as advertised when shooting photographs and lets the camera maintain a high degree of stability.
There’s also an ultra wide-angle lens that has a field of view of 123 degrees. Furthermore, the OnePlus 8T gets two more lenses. The first of these is an upgraded 5-megapixel macro lens, which on the OnePlus 8 is again a definite improvement, while the other tends to be the same monochrome 2-megapixel lens.
